Catawba Falls: Waterfall Headphones

Catawba Falls: Waterfall Headphones

“Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls.” Psalm 42:7

Vacationing here in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains has afforded me the chance to reflect on God’s beauty displayed in nature.

Have you ever tried to have a conversation at the base of a waterfall? It’s like the verse says…waterfalls roar! You have to scream your lungs out just to be heard!

I think that we’ve gotten really good at doing this to God. Our daily distractions become like waterfall headphones…we can’t hear anything going on outside them, including God.

So we go about our day, completely unaware that God is trying to get our attention. But He waits, patiently, lovingly, for us to take off our waterfall headphones.

But watch out! He does have a sense of humor, and He is faithful to pursue you. If you don’t stop to take the time to hear from Him, He might have to splash you!

  1. interesting comparison – I’d never thought of it this way before.
I followed a tag in the WordPress photo challenge about Focus (one of the tags was Great Smoky Mountains), and found a double blessing – my beloved Smokies AND a fellow believer!

  2. Aww, I’m so glad you found me! Glad that I could enlighten you with this post. I hadn’t really thought of it this way, either!
